IGI Airport Pickup: 7 Tips to Avoid Delays and Missed Connections

Practical tips for a smooth IGI Airport pickup or drop — flight tracking, terminal info, waiting time policies, and more.

Catching a flight from Delhi's IGI Airport can be stressful — especially with unpredictable traffic, security lines, and the occasional delayed flight. After years of running airport transfers across Delhi NCR, here's what we've learned about making airport pickups and drops go smoothly.

1. Share Your Flight Number When You Book

This is the single most useful thing you can do. When you share your flight number at booking, our system tracks it in real time. If your flight is delayed by an hour, your pickup time shifts automatically — no extra charge, no phone calls needed. If you skip this step, your driver works off your estimated landing time instead, which can mean a longer wait if there's a delay.

2. Know Your Terminal Before You Book

IGI Airport has three terminals — T1, T2, and T3 — and they're not close to each other. T3 handles most international and many domestic flights; T1 is mostly domestic (IndiGo, SpiceJet); T2 is used occasionally for overflow domestic traffic. Double-check your terminal on your ticket or airline app before booking, since pickup coordination depends on it.

3. Build In Buffer Time for Security

For international flights, arrive at least 3 hours before departure. For domestic, 2 hours is usually enough, but during festival season or early morning peak hours, security lines can stretch longer than expected. If you're booking a taxi to the airport, factor this into your pickup time — we generally recommend leaving your home 30-45 minutes earlier than you think you need to.

4. Meet & Greet Makes Pickup Easier

After a long flight, the last thing you want is to hunt for your cab in a crowded arrivals area. With a proper meet & greet service, your driver waits at the arrivals gate with a name board, so you can spot them immediately after collecting your luggage. Ask about this when booking — it's usually included, not an add-on.

5. Understand Waiting Time Policies

Most airport taxi services (including ours) include a set amount of free waiting time after landing — typically 45 minutes. This accounts for immigration, baggage claim, and customs. If you know you'll take longer (large group, connecting bags, etc.), it's worth mentioning at booking so your driver plans accordingly.

6. Night Flights Need Advance Booking

Landing at 2 AM? Airport taxi services do run 24x7, but availability can be tighter late at night. Booking a few hours ahead — rather than trying to arrange a cab the moment you land — gives you a much smoother experience and avoids last-minute price surprises with other providers.

7. Keep Your Booking Confirmation Handy

Save your driver's contact number and vehicle details from your booking confirmation. If there's any mix-up at the arrivals gate — a crowded terminal, a name board that's hard to spot — having the driver's number means you can call or WhatsApp directly instead of wandering the terminal.
